The Body Project Sketchbook Pages (Pt.5)

For another method of presentation, I looked at Marcus Harvey's 'Myra', 1995, due to the method of its creation. Harvey had used children's handprints to build an image of the infamous other-half of the Moors Muderers, Myra Hindley; I favoured the dark contradiction, and a twisted take on the children's activity of finger-painting. I wanted to create a similar image, using my fingerprints, as to portray to the altered image of myself, to show a personal connection to the work; like my DNA literally made me ugly (it's confusing, but I know what I mean). But I disliked the method, possibly due to how the illusion was ruined due to the size of the piece, as I felt it was too small, especially in comparison to 9 by 11 feet, 'Myra'.

For another illusion method, I had come across a video of a painting of a child, which aged into an older woman as the camera moved around the piece. I didn't know the name of the technique at first, however, after searching for ages, I had found it and wanted to try it out. I found a DIY video, showing how to turn two images into one. Again, I took the two images of my face, altered and unaltered, to make a similar image, however, it didn't work at all - massive mistake, HUGE - so much so, I included an image of me crying.
